Guest Players are used if a coach does not have enough players for a league game or tournament. League games only allow Empire Club players already on the team roster (when the player is officially on another team in the club), and for tournaments, guests can come from any club. 

Coaches are encouraged to not start guest players unless a specific position can not be filled from the current available players.
